The response is also familiar: sprint harder, cut corners on testing, accumulate technical debt, and pray that nothing breaks in production.
The conventional approach treats speed and quality as a tradeoff. You pick one. Agile ceremonies try to manage this tension through sprint planning, story points, and velocity tracking, but the underlying assumption persists: when you accelerate, defect rates climb. The Accelerate research (Forsgren, Humble, Kim, 2018) identified the key differentiator: continuous delivery practices, trunk-based development, and automated testing. But these are infrastructure descriptions, not execution protocols. They tell you what elite teams have. They do not tell you how a solo operator or micro team achieves the same outcome without enterprise CI/CD pipelines and dedicated QA departments.

Burst is a controlled divergent explosion. When execution stalls --- the operator is stuck, paralyzed by competing options, unable to select an approach --- Burst deploys a Contract/Generate/Sort sequence. Contract: absorb the problem fully without attempting to solve it. Generate: produce multiple candidates (3-5 approaches) at 80% completion, rapidly, without evaluation during generation.
